Lecture on the financial crisis for the Cyprus Stock Exchange

Dr. Dimitris Tsibanoulis was invited by the Cyprus Stock Exchange to give a lecture in the aftermath of the financial crisis. The lecture was held at the premises of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nicosia on June 9, 2011. Dr. Tsibanoulis analysed the following topics:

  • The recent Financial Crisis and proposals to prevent and tackle new ones in the future - Steps that the European Union is taking to overhaul its institutional structure in order to better cope with financial crises
  • Banking recovery – Βanking restructuring
  • Corporate Governance and remuneration policies in the financial services sector – The relevant EC Recommendation
  • The Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and  the Council on short selling and certain aspects of credit default swaps
  • Financial Services Infrastructure and the Geneva Convention on Substantive Rules regarding Intermediated Securities (October 2009)
